For Parents & Students - Information & Resources

To Parents & Students

Preparing for First Holy Communion is a deeply joyful and sacred journey of faith for children and their families. This cherished sacrament marks a powerful moment in a child’s spiritual life, as they encounter Jesus truly present in the Eucharist for the very first time! Receiving Him into their hearts and growing in a more intimate relationship with His abiding love.

Spiritual Focus

Throughout their preparation, children are gently encouraged to grow closer to Jesus, learn about the beauty and meaning of the Mass, and come to love the Eucharist as the heart of our Catholic faith.

Preparation Throughout The Year

  • Religion Class
Through engaging classroom lessons, children learn about the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist, the gifts we receive in Holy Communion, the parts of the Mass, and how we actively and reverently participate with open hearts.
  • Parent Involvement
Parents are essential partners in this faith journey. Families are invited to participate through retreats, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, activity nights, and by supporting faith learning at home.
  • 2nd Grade/parents: Dragon Slayers Retreat - Sunday, October 4, 2026, from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. at Versailles High School.                                                                                       This fun and meaningful day of reflection and adventure helps children deepen their understanding of their faith and First Reconciliation/First Communion preparation while learning how to stand strong and defend their hearts against spiritual “dragons” they may face on their journey ahead.  *Led by John Wood and family and his group Extraordinary Mission.

To Parents & Students

Preparing for First Reconciliation is an important and joyful step in your child’s spiritual journey. Through this sacrament, children experience God’s mercy and love in a personal and life-changing way, learning to turn to Him with open hearts and receive His gift of forgiveness.

Spiritual Focus

Our goal is to help children understand that God’s love is unconditional. The Sacrament of Reconciliation is a special gift of healing and peace, guiding children to reflect on their choices and turn to God with open hearts to work towards saintly mindsets and choices that are pleasing to God.

Preparation Throughout The Year

  • Religion Class
Children learn about sin, God’s forgiveness, forming a good conscience, and how to receive the gift of Reconciliation.
  • Parent Involvement
Parents are invited to attend their child’s First Reconciliation and support learning at home by modeling the importance of forgiveness and God’s grace.
  • Practice Opportunities
Children are guided through the steps of confession, prayers of Reconciliation, and given chances to practice in a supportive, encouraging environment.
  • Spiritual Goal
Our hope is that children come to understand God’s unconditional love and see Reconciliation as a gift. They are encouraged to develop saintly habits of examining their hearts, bringing what’s been hidden into the light, and seeking God’s forgiveness, peace, and healing.
